  • School Closures
When weather is hazardous (ice / snow) in the morning, please listen to Hokonui Gold Radio for school cancellations / late starts or late bus run notices. A text alert will also be sent to all caregivers we hold cell phone numbers for. If snowing in the morning, exercise your discretion about sending your child to school especially if getting them home could be a problem. Please ring in during the day if snow conditions in your area are of concern. If you are to be away from home on a suspected snow day please have an alternative arrangement with a neighbour / friend which your child knows about, and send a note or ring the school with these arrangements. If conditions deteriorate during the day, again please listen to the radio. All bus children parents will be rung before buses can leave. If parents cannot be reached (and we have not been informed of an alternative arrangement) those children will be kept at school. Town parents will be asked (via radio) to collect their children. Town families are only rung after buses are away.
