Our School is forward thinking in its philosophy, purposeful in selecting the right staff and committed to helping our students with the competencies they need to succeed. Our vision captures the learner qualities of being confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.
We are a well resourced contributing school catering for a roll of around 120 students from Year 1 - 6. Tapanui School has a positive, caring culture with students and staff working co-operatively and respectfully using modern learning pedagogy. We are West Otago's biggest primary school.
Our School Song - Kō Matau tells about our values and our sense of togetherness:
Kō Matau, te roopu, E tu atu nei.
E karanga kia koutou, Haere mai ra
Mauria mai tō aroha, Kia piri tonu mai
Kō Tapanui te kura E tu atu nei.
Our school is well positioned in the township of Tapanui, West Otago with the Play Centre, Kidzway Early Learning Centre and Blue Mountain College situated alongside. We are nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains and have an idyllic view of the surrounding countryside from our school grounds. Tapanui is a member of the Pomahaka Kāhui Ako.
SCHOOL STRATEGIC & ANNUAL PLAN
Each year we complete our school Strategic Plan. This gets approved by the Board usually at their first meeting of the year. This document sets out the strategic direction for the school over a 3-year period.
